Use of AI in pharmacovigilance, in a human-in-the-loop approach, requires an understanding of the underlying AI methodology; e.g. strengths and limitations, measurements of performance, and feasibility of implementation. In addition, one needs to ensure regulatory compliance. AI can be used for various PV tasks. In addition, use of AI-driven tools in healthcare management is increasing (e.g. wearables, apps).
Rudi participated in several conferences on use of AI in PV (ISoP, DIA), completed programs on Machine Learning, and attended courses on use of AI in pharma/business and in healthcare (MIT, INSEAD, Stanford e-learning). In addition, he commented on the “AI in PV” CIOMS report (2025) and is a certified AI Compliance officer.
